PATENTED SNOWBOARD UPCYCLING
At SWS, we’re passionate about making action sports more circular. In 2023, we introduced our patented snowboard upcycling technology, giving retired boards new life. Old boards are transformed into reclaimed material for the core of new boards, reducing waste while keeping valuable materials in use. It’s one example of how we’re rethinking material life cycles.
FROM WASTE TO PERFORMANCE
RECLAIMED CORE TECHNOLOGY
Inside the wood core, our reclaimed material works as a structural element, adding vibration dampening and torsional stability for a smoother, more controlled ride. Today, it is used in snowboards for one of our leading brand partners. As awareness of this circular solution grows, the number of boards we receive for upcycling increases every year.

UPCYCLING AEROSPACE CARBON
In 2024, we explored how surplus aviation-grade carbon fibres could be repurposed for action sports. Working with an aerospace partner, we integrated the material into high-performance boards, giving it a new application. It’s one example of how we explore lower-impact material solutions with our industry partners.

GREENER MATERIALS
We’re committed to reducing our boards’ environmental footprint without compromising performance. Alongside bio-based topsheets and resin systems, we offer renewable, plant-based flax fibres alongside traditional glass fibre. Our material innovation includes collaborations such as our work with Checkerspot, helping us explore what’s possible for more responsible board construction.
SMARTER PACKAGING, LESS WASTE
RECYCLABLE BOARD PROTECTION
We’re continually looking for smarter ways to reduce packaging waste. Our certified recyclable EdgeBoard protectors replace traditional rubber, while recyclable cartons and lead-free inks help us reduce unnecessary materials and improve the recyclability of our packaging. Small changes that make a difference across every board.
LOWER EMISSIONS, GREATER BENEFITS
SHARED TRANSPORT
Our shared bus service helps staff commute from different locations, reducing the number of individual journeys to and from our facility. In place for several years, it reduces transport-related emissions while making daily commuting more convenient for our team. A practical solution that benefits both people and planet.
